Majlis-e-Wahdat-e-Muslimeen women wing secretary general Zahra Naqvi has said that Islam had given unmatched rights and respect to women from the day one.

Speaking at a gathering on Women’s Day in Lahore, she said, world should not forget what was the status of women in Arabian Peninsula 14 centuries ago. She said that Arabs in Makkah (Mecca) had an inhuman tradition to mostly bury infant daughters but it was Islam and Prophet of Islam and Humanity Hazrat Mohammad (PBUH) who uprooted this cruelty from that society.
Zahra Naqvi said that Prophet of Islam and Humanity had taught special and respectful status to women in different positions as daughter, wife and mother and other relations.
She said that Hazrat Fatima Zahra, daughter of Prophet Mohammad (BUH), had emerged as role model as daughter, wife and mother in that society.
“MWM believes in dignity of women and has been making efforts to ensure that women in Pakistan too get all their rights and respect,” she said, adding that Pakistan cannot progression ignoring more than 50 percent of its population that comprises of women.
