Pakistan: Sunni-Shia Muslims unity witnessed at MWM’s Iftar party in Lahore

Majlis-e-Wahdat-e-Muslimeen of Pakistan (religious-political Shia party) hosted an Iftar party in honour of all sects Ulema Board at the party’s Shadman Town secretariat in Lahore where many eminent Sunni religious scholars came to mark unity of Muslims by joining their Shia brethren.



“Today’s event and participation is a proof that there is no sectarianism in Pakistan and all Sunni and Shia Muslims are brothers of each other in accordance with the Islamic teachings,” said Nasir Shirazi, deputy secretary general, MWM, speaking at the Iftar party.

He said Sunni and Shia Muslims would also observe Youm-ul-Quds together to express their unity against Zionist regime of Israel and to express solidarity with oppressed Palestinians.

Shirazi said that US and Israel were enemies of Islam and Muslims and they had been plotting to fan sectarianism but Sunni and Shia Muslims have foiled their nefarious designs.

“Unity of scholars of all sects of Muslims at this event is tantamount to a slap in the face of enemies of Islam and Muslims. Today, we have given this message for another time to the world that we are united and we shall remain united forever,” he said.

Sunni scholars Maulana M Asim Makhdoom, Pir S Naubahar Shah, Mufti S Ashiq Hussain Shah, Dr Badr Muneer Saifi, Maulana Ayub Saqib, Maulana Shakilur Rehman Nasir, Maulana Abdul Rab Amjad and many other Shia scholars attended the event.
