What was the reason for destruction of Aad tribe?

Their land was green and fertile, and they built many strong and amazing buildings and palaces in high lands which could not be found anywhere else as described in the holy Quran in Ayah 8 of Surah Al-Fajr. Their power and progress caused them to rebel in a way that they did not accept the invitation of their own prophet and they said: Who is more powerful than us to inflict torment on us? This is described in the holy Quran in Ayah 15 of surah Fussilat.

Aad tribe were idol worshippers and Allah (SWT) sent to them Prophet Hud (AS) to warn them of God’s wrath, but they said Hud (AS) was mad. This is described in the holy Quran in Ayah 66 of Surah Al-A’araaf, and in Ayah 54 of Surah Hud. They refused to worship Allah (SWT) and stuck to the religion of their fathers and they were arrogant and threatened Hud (AS). As a consequence, God’s torment was inflicted on them in the shape of a very strong storm and destroyed everyone except Hud (AS) and few of his followers. But Aad tribe was destroyed with a cold, noisy and destructive storm, as described in the holy Quran in Ayah 6 of Surah Al-Haaqqah.
