Whoever wished to see Adam in his knowledge, Noah in his piety, Ibrahim in his tolerance, Moses in his strength and clemency and Jesus in his worship and devotion should look at Ali son of Abu Taleb

The best one can say on the martyrdom anniversary of the Commander of the Faithful (peace be upon him) is how the Holy Prophet (Allah's prayers be upon him and upon his holy Household) described him:

Whoever wished to see Adam in his knowledge, Noah in his piety, Ibrahim in his tolerance, Moses in his strength and clemency and Jesus in his worship and devotion should look at Ali son of Abu Taleb

Imam Ali (peace be upon him) is the extract of the virtues of all the elect and chosen servants of God from Adam to the Seal of Prophet (Allah's prayers be upon him and upon his holy Household). He is above all the beloved servants of God, the heir of prophets and matchless creature of God, the Exalted. The holy Prophet (Allah's prayers be upon him and upon his holy Household) said: "Whoever wished to see Adam in his knowledge, Noah in his piety, Ibrahim in his tolerance, Moses in his strength and clemency and Jesus in his worship and devotion should look at Ali son of Abu Taleb." [Bihar al-Anwar; al-Majlisi / Ch 17, p419].

He (Allah's prayers be upon him and upon his holy Household) also said: "One who wants to see Yusuf in his beauty, Ibrahim in his generosity, Sulayman [Solomon] in his joy, and to Dawud [David] in his wisdom, should then look at Ali Ibn Abi Taleb.” [Bihar al-Anwar, al-Majlisi / Ch 39, p45.]

The Messenger of Allah (Allah's prayers be upon him and upon his holy Household) said to Ali (peace be upon him): “O Ali, none other than me and you have truly recognized Allah and none has truly recognized you other than Allah and me." [Manaqib; Ibn Shahr Ashub, Ch3, p60].

And he (Allah's prayers be upon him and upon his holy Household) said: ".. .If it was not for what would the sects of my nation say about you like what the Christians said about Jesus son of Mary, I would have said in you a word that would make people not pass by you but take the soil from under your feet seeking by that the blessing..." [al-Kafi; Sheik al-Kulayni. Ch8, p57].
